AMSilk started producing Biosteel® Fiber in 2015: the very first performance fiber which defined a totally new category, combining revolutionary science with true environmental integrity. Today AMSilk offers broad fiber performance characteristics from Biosteel® to Ultrafine. Our fiber is converted into fabric using standard textile manufacturing equipment, turning man-made proteins into fibers for commercial textiles – footwear and garments, bags and wristbands, home textiles and even composites in automobiles. Our brand partners enable us to access a broad consumer base across a wide and diverse range of industries and applications.
The completely biodegradable AMSilk Fiber is made using biotechnology and is petroleum free. This process works well under aerobic and marine conditions, leaving no microplastic residue. Like natural silk, AMSilk Fiber is of premium quality – it enhances skin comfort with bacteriostatic and hygienic properties, and is thinner and more delicate than the products of Mulberry Silk. The production of AMSilk Fiber is animal cruelty free and certified vegan.
