AMSilk delivers materials that can outperform existing animal and fossil-based products through the combination of low environmental impact and high performance. AMSilk offers products and ingredients that are made from renewable raw materials, are biodegradable (OECD 301B), and contribute to a more efficient use of natural resources. AMSilk fibers are comparable to silk from mulberry silkworms, but with a significantly reduced environmental impact (ISO 14044). AMSilk consumer care products can improve and protect the surfaces of a wide variety of materials, while also being biodegradable and harmless to humans and nature.

AMSilk strives to minimize its environmental impact throughout the entire production process, including resource use, energy consumption and waste disposal. We recommend the use of sustainable raw materials, renewable energy sources and processes that reduce the carbon footprint (ISO 14044). We avoid harmful chemicals in our production processes wherever possible and optimise our processes to reduce water, raw material and energy consumption. In a life cycle analysis of AMSilk fibers and mulberry silkworm silk, we examined our scaled-up production processes in comparison to conventional silk production and are convinced that the planned increase in production will have a positive impact. With every kilogram of AMSilk fiber that replaces silk fiber, we could save up to 120 kg of CO2 equivalent.
